Normally look and feel is determined by what is decided to suit the venue best. In this case, choice of venue wasn't certain (but the deadline was) so we worked in reverse and designed the e-vite first.
I drew inspiration from the B-movie posters (particularly horror) of the 50s and 60s — though the e-vite needn't be clear in terms of subject. Only the event title Monster Mash needed to be readable. Torn edges and a title whose typeface was both sinister and playful (Ultimatum) were the finishing touches.
...and off to the email list it went.
Best dressed award
Treating the e-vite as the identity for Monster Mash, everything else created including posters and this award followed it's style, with similar type and graphics.
